MemberPress Review 2024

by Adam Preiser updated Feb 23, 2024

MemberPress is a WordPress plugin used to secure and sell content on your website. With its extensive features and integrations, MemberPress can handle just about any membership website requirements.

Current Pricing: $149 – $349
Ease of Use

Ease Of Use

7/10

While quite easy to use and setup, the front end styling is very dated so expect a lot of effort to make it look good.

Price / Value

7.5/10

The price is in line with other solutions but offers less active installations. However the included affiliate management tool makes up for it.

MemberPress Review: Wrap Up

As far as membership plugins go, you will be hard-pressed to find one that is better then MemberPress. It is very simple to setup and manage membership websites and their support will be there for you when you need them.

  1. Can you export existing memberships from another plugin/platform so as not to disrupt customer experience too much?

Thank you for the review. I also watched your tutorial on YouTube. I’m considering this for a fitness/holistic lifestyle coaching site including workouts as well as nutrition, meditation education and videos. There are many to choose from but keep coming back to this. Do you think it would be better than Wishlist or Ultimate Memberhsip pro, the 2 others I keep looking at?

    Thank you
    Rebecca

    1. If you are going to be offering online courses, I would suggest looking at LearnDash as you may not need a membership plugin. But if I had to choose, I would go with MemberPress over Wishlist or Ultimate Membership Pro.

      1. I watched your video and bought Memberpress. I’m having trouble with the sign in and Registration forms as they are not showing up. I use Elementor as my page builder. Do you have a course or direction to help me solve this issue?

      2. Hi Adam, I’m a bit confused as to why you suggest looking at LearnDash, because your review for that product ends with the following : “Personally, I wouldn’t trust LearnPress for a serious website. “

  3. I was going to buy MemberPress and convert my membership website but I won’t do it because they recently doubled its the price. The price was 129, now it’s 258. They also placed a fake “countdown timer” with a 50% discount, supposed to go on for 40 minutes. After 40 minutes, the countdown started again. Now they changed the discount to 60% for Black Friday.

From december 1, what will the real price be? $ 258? I was happy to pay 129/year, but won’t buy if the price is 258, and above all I can’t accept these aggressive marketing strategies that try to force me to buy something because the price will go up in 40 minutes…
I don’t mind there is a promotion (or a fake one?) going on in this moment, what if next year they double the price again? I will have to change membership plugin one more time.

Wishlist member may be an older plugin but they are much more serious with the price: they don’t give coupon codes, they charge an honest price for renewal, after you first pay the full amount.

Thanks for your articles and tutorials, best wishes

  4. Couple questions. Considering this for a sports news publication that will have a mix of free and premium content. Is there a way to make sure users can tell which posts are premium vs. free on the front end? Also, is it possible to customize the log in options depending on the area of the site they are in? For example, if they’re clicking on something premium from the home page, could we redirect them to a sign up page, but if they click on something premium from social, could we have the log in pop up at the post level?

I was driving myself nuts trying to figure out what subscription management I should use. Luckily I found you review and overview and that sealed the deal. It’s just what I wanted and made sure I clicked using your site. Thanks for finally making my decision process easier. Well done.

  6. Adam,

Thanks for this review of Memberpress, I’m planning on purchasing within the next 24 hours and will make sure I do so from our site so I can help support you and the great content that you produce.

I have one question – Can I use pages designed with Beaver Builder and Ultimate Addons with MemberPress. I want to be able to control the content on the various pages that Memberpress directs members to so they only see high quality content on the pages and posts.

    Thanks again.
