I have inherited a website that has been around for years. I am the current webmaster. The site has a child theme setup. The theme the site uses is RT Theme 18. Whenever I go to update the theme to the latest version all of the formats of the Home page get lost. I thought this would not happen given I have a child theme. Luckily I just revert back to my backup and I am back at square one.

I have no idea where to begin to look at where the customizations are that I need to save and how I would go about saving them so I can go ahead with the upgrade. Obviously, whatever customizations that were made were done in the parent theme directory; even though a Child theme directory exists and is active. Is there any sort of plugin or procedure that could help me do the detective work I need to do to find out how to find and then preserve these customizations.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. The theme has not been updated in a while and I am concerned we may have a security issue one day if I do not update it soon.

    Thanks

    Greg
