Hello, Adam and all! It's been a year since I started building out my online math and science homeschool courses WordPress website here: https://natureglosescience.com/ I just launched my site this past July. Here's my question: Is Buddypress a great alternative to using the new and unfortunately expensive LifterLMS Social Learning platform? I'm yet bootstrapping and looking for a good solution for my students. However, I am concerned about reviews I read about Buddypress slowing people's websites down. So, if I go for BP, I want to be sure that I have the tools as a WP newbie amateur to efficiently run it without it slowing down my website to a crawl.

What do you think? Would it be an easy enough solution for me? I've thought about taking social learning off of my site completely and going with Edmodo (https://www.edmodo.com/home), but, the cons are that, are well, Edmodo wouldn't be tied into my website and more challenging to get students to engage with myself and each other unless I had something like BP integrated into my WP site. Your advice is much appreciated!

Well, I have always discouraged people from using anything BuddyPress related because it is VERY complex and there is really only 1 company that are experts with it, BuddyBoss. It will be a VERY expensive solution in time and money, unfortunately.

I would encourage you to see for yourself, maybe in a test WordPress install.

Is there a reason you wouldn't have a Facebook group for the engagement? I am sure all the students are already on Facebook. Also, its easier to get all the activity in their Facebook feed. This is primarily why I have a Facebook group because that is where people have conversations.
