QuestionsDo I still need a child theme if using Astra sites?
Matt Robinson asked 1 year ago

Sorry for the stupid question but I couldn't find this anywhere and as I'm still pretty new to it all it had me concerned. I'm using Elementor Pro and Astra Pro. I know if you are not using Astra sites that you should use a child theme for the normal ASTRA theme, but is it necessary if using the Astra sites plugin?

It's a good best practice to use a child theme, but it is becoming less and less important. You can always add one later if you discover that you need one.

For me I do because I customize core theme files, very advanced stuff, so I need a child theme so I can have these customizations in an upgrade safe way.

Hey that’s fine. It is a good best practice, but not as important these days.

Oh god, I remember now that Astra sites is a plugin, so of course need to use a child theme. Sorry was thinking of it as a seperate theme for some reason!
