I understand that a theme is required to build a website in WP (I chose Kadence through your various recommendations). I understand a theme builder is useful for fully “building out” a website (I chose Elementor). What I'm having real trouble wrapping my head around is this:

Where does the editing of the theme (with Kadence) stop and the editing of everything else with Elementor (template/webpages I suppose?) begin? It seems like both have abilities to change all the various details to headings, buttons, global color, etc. I'm not clear what is best practice or what I should be using each tool (Kadence vs Elementor) for essentially. Any insight or approach to thinking about this would be super helpful.

Sorry this is so 101, but wow, can't find anything (here, Kadence, Elementor) that clearly helps with information on this topic. Thanks for your help, this site has been a tremendous resource!

You use a theme for your website header and footer. Also for many technical pages your website needs such as archive pages, 404 page, search pages.

Your page builder is used for building out the pages themselves, this is under the header and above the footer.

There are many page builders available or you can use the included block builder to build the structure and content of your pages.
